Medical providers can report a disease by phone or fax.

Communicable Diseases

Local health departments are required to report some 80 communicable diseases to the California Department of Public Health as part of the disease surveillance and investigation efforts.

The Communicable Disease Control & Prevention Division works in partnership with the community to promote health and quality of life and to protect the public from the spread of communicable diseases and the health impact of emergencies.
