Family Liaison Professional Development

Family Liaison Community Network

The Family Liaison Community Network provides opportunities for both school and community-based family liaisons and navigators to learn and find support from each other.

The Network meets monthly to share successes, challenges, tools, and strategies for engaging and supporting families. We also bring in specialists on topics of interest to the group, such as Strengthening Families Protective Factors, Legal Aid, Fatherhood, Staff Wellness, Substance Abuse, etc. Participants share and gain useful resources from around Alameda County.

We provide a range of professional development and skill building for school-based and community-based staff working directly with families.

We say Family Liaisons, but the support is for all front-line staff working every day to support and engage families. This includes Family Liaisons, Family Advocates, Family Outreach Workers, Family Engagement Specialists, Family Case Workers, Resource Navigators, Family Support Advocates, Parent Partners, Parent Ambassadors, Community Liaisons, Family Services Assistants, and more!

The foundation of support is the Family Liaison Community Network which provides opportunities for both school and community-based family liaisons and navigators to learn and find support from each other.

Additionally, We offer ongoing and one-off skill building workshops, often in English and Spanish, including:

  • Six-week Training Series on Planning and Facilitating Meetings developed specifically for Family Liaisons
  • Train the Trainer workshops on a variety of topics, such as Understanding and Talking to Your Children about Cannabis or Opioids
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Facilitating Parent Cafes
