Alameda County, CA – The Alameda County Health Care Services Agency announced today its new identity as Alameda County Health (AC Health). Headquartered in San Leandro and serving more than 1.7 million residents in one of the most diverse counties in the nation, AC Health remains rooted in health equity and care for the whole person.
Across multiple departments and cross-agency programs, and in partnerships with more than 300 community-based organizations, AC Health continues to provide key services to Alameda County residents, including: public health, behavioral health, environmental health, EMS, housing and homelessness services, and a variety of programs that promote access to care and help to close health disparities.
The rebranding effort was inspired in part by lessons learned from the pandemic, when accessible, clear, and relatable information proved to be critical for residents seeking vital support services, and reliable health guidance and medical information.
“AC Health plays a vital role in supporting and protecting the health of Alameda County residents, and this is about making sure our residents clearly understand where to go for the services and resources that can literally save their lives, “said Alameda County District 5 Supervisor and Health Committee Chair Keith Carson. “The new brand will make it easier to share information and messaging with our communities, and ultimately make it easier for people to understand all that the County offers through AC Health.”
The Agency’s new brand was developed with input and feedback from staff and community partners to facilitate the creation of a brand that reflects a broad range of services that support Alameda County’s diverse communities and needs. AC Health will gradually transition communications collateral, building signage, and official business documents over the next year. A new website will launch this summer, with the main goals of making it easier to find information from multiple entry/search points and enhancing accessibility for people with visual impairment and speakers of different languages.
“While our name and logos are changing, the structure and strength of our agency and our commitment to everyone we serve remains the same,” said Colleen Chawla, director of the County’s Health Care Services Agency. “A lot of coordination happens across our departments and programs to deliver high quality services and improve health outcomes for Alameda County residents−this new brand will help highlight those connections more clearly and for our clients and communities.” While the mission, vision, and organizational structure of the agency and its departments will remain the same, the following name changes will apply as of March 27, 2024:
- Alameda County Health (AC Health) Previously: Alameda County Health Care Services Agency or HCSA
- AC Health, Behavioral Health Department (ACBHD) Previously: Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services or ACBH
